Join the PDAC Executive Team for 2026-2027!

Looking for an opportunity to make a difference, expand your professional network, and help shape the postdoctoral community at the University of Calgary? Join the PDAC Executive for the 2026-2027 term! Serving on the executive is a great way to connect with fellow postdocs, collaborate with university and external partners, develop leadership skills, and contribute to initiatives that support the postdoctoral community.

📅 Nominations are now open and close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Nomination Procedure

To nominate yourself or another postdoctoral scholar for a position on the 2026-2027 PDAC Executive, please email nynke.vandenhoogen@ucalgary.ca by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, and include:

• The nominee's first and last name

• The position for which the person is being nominated (one nomination per person)

• The nominee's University of Calgary email address

• The first and last name, and digital or scanned signature, of the person(s) submitting the nomination

What Happens Next?

After nominations close:

• Each nominee will be contacted to confirm their eligibility and acceptance of the nomination.

• Once accepted, nominees will have one week to submit a brief statement outlining their interest and relevant experience.

Funding opportunities

Indigenous Scholars Awards and Supplements Pilot Initiative

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) are pleased to share the expansion of the Indigenous Scholars Awards and Supplements Pilot Initiative. In addition to being open to Indigenous master’s students, it will soon be open to those at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels.

The initiative will provide financial support to meritorious First Nations, Inuit and Métis students and postdoctoral researchers who apply to programs under the Canada Research Training Awards Suite starting July 8, 2026.

Emerging Scholars Program - Applications Now Open

Interested in the intersection of quantum technologies, intellectual property, and national security? The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is accepting applications for its Emerging Scholars Program, part of a Department of National Defence (DND MINDS)-supported research project, The Quantum Nexus: A Framework for Canadian Strategic Advantage in a Contested Domain.

This program offers an opportunity for students and early-career researchers interested in these interdisciplinary fields to engage with leading experts and contribute to research at the intersection of technology, policy, and security.
